You can reach the entire Aosta Valley through short car rides, for example, the fort of Bard which lies between Verres and Pont Saint Martin and has been completely renovated and is home to exhibitions and art events of various types and all of first order. Another unique place for its natural beauty and for the animals which inhabit it not to be missed is the Parco del Gran Paradido, reachable through various valleys, the most famous of which is the Cogne where there are old coal mines. Another must is the spectacle of Mont Blanc in Courmayeur. You can also visit many medieval castles of the valley along what used to be a border between countries. The most famous of these are that of Verres and Issogne, both in Verres, and that of Fenis built by the Counts of Challants who dominated almost the entire valley between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance on behalf of the Savoia. If you visit the capital Aosta, be sure to to visit the monuments dating back to roman times. Others might enjoy going to the casino of Saint Vincent and spend the nights playing at the tables.
